Scott Donnell is the CEO of Anython Operations as well as Apex Fun Run Franchise. (They’re both under the same company.) He works hand-in-hand with their 37 licensees and franchisees.
What part of Arizona do you call home?
What was your very first entrepreneurial venture?
Selling bead geckos in the 3rd grade to my friends and neighbors. I got suspended for hiring all of my friends at recess to make inventory.
How did you come up with the idea for Anython?
Many Apex Fun Run clients asked us to do specific fundraisers for their sports teams and/or clubs. And we didn’t have the ability to back when it was only Apex Fun Run, so a couple years ago, we finally launched Anython. Now we can serve any group/team/organization trying to fundraise for any cause.
What is your favorite part about running a business?
Working with our amazing team throughout the country and our corporate culture.
What was the biggest challenge in running your business?
Finding the right people.
How long have you lived or worked in Arizona?
I’ve lived here for 7 years. The tech industry in AZ is growing very rapidly. I’ve seen more co-working spaces go up recently than anything else.
If you could only describe your city with one word, which word would it be?
What’s your favorite thing about living in Arizona?
The warm winters.
What’s your least favorite thing about living in Arizona?
It’s getting way more crowded here.
In what area do you think Arizona still has a long way to go?
Our state is big on real estate, and I think we need to focus on diversifying our assets. That’s why I think the tech industry is so valuable!
The foodie scene is growing bigger and bigger by the day here in Arizona. What is your favorite place to get breakfast in your city?
The Ranch House Grill.

What’s your favorite place to work in your city aside from your office?
Our corporate team thrives on not having an office. We all work in different areas throughout the States. It’s maybe not my favorite place, but I find myself working on the phone in my car driving from meeting to meeting the majority of the time!
Best place for a meeting over drinks?
What is your favorite memory from Arizona?
Having our daughter, Reagan, last year. Also our Apex trainings are always a hit! We have 300 people throughout the country come to Scottsdale for a week every August. It’s great to get everyone together!
What is a common misconception about living in AZ?
It’s not all retired old people!

Make sure your car has a garage.
